Tinykin : Pollen rush

What ?
Tinykin : Pollen Rush is a school project of a tabletop card game based on the platforming video game Tinykin. The goal of the game is to collect as much pollen as you can by buying cards using tinykins, those little colored creatures. The feel of play is like a collectathon, exactly like Tinykin! We also had to record a video of us playing the game and explaining the creative and game design thoughts, and the rules of the game.
How ?
We started by the ideation phase, putting all our minds together to think of something that could fit Tinykin's game feel. When we chose card collection and pollen collection, we made a paper prototype to start the playtests. We kept a balance sheet of the game updated to the playtests. Then when it was ready, we printed everything and recorded a video of the rules and a typical turn.
Who ?
It was a group project, we were four game designers, we all worked on the project at the same amount. I did the game design part of the side features of the game and elaborated play tests for the game.
Why ?
The project was about creating a tabletop game based on an existing video game. We had to focus on the main game design and mechanics of the game, the pillars of it. The objective was to be able to grasp the same feeling as if we were playing the real game, but on a table.
